KIDS-IN-DESIGN
History
Kids-in-Design (KID's) was founded in 1987 as a forum in which architects and other design professionals collaborate to develop community outreach programs directed toward Baltimore's youngest citizens (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade), their parents and teachers. KID's has conducted a variety of activities in schools, at museums and at special events to introduce architectural design and urban planning concepts to children in the Baltimore region.
Mission statement
KID's volunteers are drawn from both the private and public sector. We include architects, urban planners, landscape architects, interior designers and environmental graphic designers. We are united by the conviction that, through sharing our visual orientation, design professionals can enhance people's understanding of the world about them. We believe that introducing children to our creative problem-solving process can foster independent thinking, sharpen decision-making skills and build self-esteem. Ultimately, we hope that a design-educated citizenry will advocate a high standard of quality in our built environment.

Annual programs, School Programs, Class/Group Presentations, Teacher-Training Workshops, Museum Collaborations, Special Public Events, Walking Tours, Career Awareness Presentations, Exhibitions, Media Collaborations and publications.
